Abdallah

Hello, my name is Abdallah. My studies at St. Clair College focus on Information Communication Technology.

Since June, I have worked with the Research and Innovation Department, developing one-pager research summaries, managing intellectual property, and archiving projects. Currently, I am enhancing the interface for the timesheet program and revamping the department website.

These experiences have strengthened my skills in research, project management, problem-solving, and teamwork. I look forward to continuing my contributions and tackling new challenges.

Ava

I am Ava, a researcher specializing in robotics. During my time with St. Clair College, I had the opportunity to engage deeply with cutting-edge research and development in robotics, an experience that was both professionally and personally rewarding. The collaborative environment created by the R&I team was instrumental in advancing my projects and contributing to meaningful innovations. The support provided by the R&I department, from access to advanced facilities to the availability of expert guidance, significantly enhanced the quality and scope of my research. The team’s dedication to fostering a culture of innovation and excellence was evident in every interaction, and their commitment to pushing the boundaries of knowledge was truly inspiring. Working alongside such talented and dedicated individuals allowed me to achieve my research objectives and grow as a professional in robotics. The mentorship and collaborative spirit within the R&I team were crucial in overcoming challenges and driving forward impactful projects. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such a dynamic team and would highly recommend the St. Clair College R&I team to anyone looking to make significant strides in their research endeavors.

Breanne

My name is Breanne, and I was fortunate enough to be part of the OVIN task force designing the grade 9 STEM curriculum surrounding electric vehicles. While I have been in education for many years specializing in curriculum development, It was my first experience doing something like this.

Being part of a pilot and being involved in developing something from scratch is unlike any other project I’ve been a part of, as there was no way of confirming what the exact outcome would be. It involved out of the box thinking to find a solution to a given problem. For STEM projects particularly, this meant using one’s right brain as much as their left one. It also meant considering different ways to approach the issue to uncover previously unnoticed information. Both STEM and soft skills are needed to achieve this.

I was partnered with an amazing team and that made this experience that much more invigorating and exciting every step of the way. There were challenges; It involved learning how to work with various experts in the field, navigating many thoughts, opinions and ideas almost all remotely. However, effective communication was present and paramount. Together, we created something greater than the sum of its parts. I am truly grateful for this experience. I was able to work alongside many brilliant minds and meet so many wonderful individuals along the way. It is something I would recommend to anyone who is considering being involved in research and innovation and it’s something I would love to do again in the future.

Brooke

My name is Brooke. During my time at the Research and Innovation department of St. Clair College, I have experienced remarkable professional growth and development along the sides of a dedicated team. The supportive and collaborative environment within the R&I team has been pivotal in enhancing my skills and advancing my career. Throughout my time here, I have been privileged to work on the sidelines of a variety of tasks that have allowed me to expand my expertise. The mentorship and guidance from experienced colleagues have been invaluable in overcoming challenges and achieving project milestones. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been able to meet so many innovative people, in such a short period of time. This experience has been both incredibly rewarding and deeply fulfilling being able to see all the positive impacts the team has been able to make, and I am eager to continue growing with the team.

I find this new role both exciting and rewarding, and I look forward to applying my skills and knowledge to make valuable contributions to future projects. My dedication to studying and practicing new skills underscores my belief in the importance of ongoing education and adaptability in driving success in engineering.

Mayank

I have been working with the Research and Innovation team at St Clair as a Researcher for the last few months on the FedDev projects. It has honestly been a rewarding experience working alongside like-minded professionals within the research team, who all have a single-minded focus on innovation and developing products of the future. The constant support received through immediate feedback and communication from the Director to our Program Managers and Business Manager has been phenomenal. This has ensured the development timelines for the undertaking projects are met with positive results. I am very grateful to be a part of this team and I look forward to working together and delivering results that highlight the significance of this research team in Windsor’s innovation records.
